DENYS KARLOVSKYI — FRIDAY, 17 JUNE 2022, 15:21
Russian occupying forces are conducting devastating artillery shelling in Lysychansk, and fierce battles are continuing for Sievierodonetsk.
Source: Serhii Haidai, the head of Luhansk Oblast Military Administration, on Telegram
Quote from Haidai: "As we all know, there is very heavy shelling in Lysychansk. Unfortunately, there are often many people killed.
Only yesterday, the Russians launched an airstrike on a house where people were hiding from the shelling. It is very difficult! The war is not over. We will win in any case, because the truth is on our side."
Details: According to Haidai, the most difficult battle between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Russian occupiers continues in the area of Toshkivka and Zolote.
The Russians did not take full control of Sievierodonetsk.
Despite the shelling, the Ukrainian military administration, together with volunteers and law enforcement officers, is delivering humanitarian aid to the civilian population and organising an evacuation. The place of gathering and evacuation times are no longer made public, as the occupiers immediately fire on those places and roads indicated in the announcements.
Background:
On the morning of 17 June, Haidai said that it was impossible to organise an evacuation from the territory of the Azot plant in Sievierodonetsk. More than 500 civilians, including children, are hiding in bomb shelters there.
On 16 June, the Russians launched an artillery strike on the local health care institution, where unarmed civilians were hiding. At least 4 victims were rescued from the rubble.
