10,000 people in Mariupol could die of infectious diseases by the end of the year - Mariupol mayor

Cholera, dysentery and other diseases could cause the deaths of thousands of people in Mariupol by the end of this year, according to Vadym Boichenko, the mayor of Russian-occupied Mariupol.

Quote from Boichenko: "The epidemic situation is getting worse every day. Mass burials throughout the city plus rain and rising temperatures. As a result there has been a massive increase in infectious diseases.

Dysentery, cholera and other dangerous infectious diseases could kill about 10,000 people in Mariupol by the end of the year. This is what our doctors are saying, and this is confirmed by British intelligence."

Details: Boichenko is calling on the International Red Cross and UN missions to work together to create green corridors for a mass evacuation of people from the city.

Reminder: British intelligence reported that Mariupol is at risk of a major cholera outbreak.
