Quote from Reznikov: "Yesterday I had a very fruitful conversation with Ukraine’s great friend, Lloyd Austin III, the US Minister of Defence.
We expect a new round of good news in the very near future, thanks to the outstanding leadership of the United States in its support of Ukraine’s fight against the Russian invasion."
Details: Reznikov added that Ukraine is also expecting good news from Poland: "Our Ministry of Defence delegation is wrapping up its work [in Poland - ed.]. Details will be announced soon."
According to the minister of defence, Ukraine has entered a critical phase of the war: "Very bloody battles are continuing in the east. We don’t have enough heavy weapons to repulse the enemy."
On 1 June it was reported that the United States approved a new 700 million dollar package of security aid for Ukraine.
This new package will include M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), as confirmed in an official statement by President Joe Biden.
Ukraine and Poland want to launch joint production of weapons.
The two countries have signed a memorandum on the creation of a Ukrainian-Polish commission which will prepare recommendations regarding the best format for setting up joint production of weapons and military equipment.
Reznikov also addressed those who are putting pressure on Ukraine to make territorial concessions in order to temporarily placate Moscow.
Quote from Reznikov: "This will only whet the aggressor’s appetite. Neither the Ukrainian government nor the Ukrainian people would take such steps. If anyone believes that this would end the war, they will get the opposite result.
The war will come directly to the borders of NATO and the EU. On air, Russian Kremlin-controlled propagandists are already explicitly saying that it’s time for Russia to ‘demilitarise’ not only Ukraine, but all of the North Atlantic Alliance.
Which means the security of the entire world is under threat. There will be millions of refugees and Europe will be hit by hundreds of billions of euros worth of losses."
