Details: According to RIA Novosti, "the top command staff of the 36th Brigade of the Ukrainian Marines - brigade commander and Hero of Ukraine Colonel Volodymyr Baraniuk and chief of staff Colonel Dmytro Kormiankov - were captured after trying to leave the Azovmash plant (northwest of Azovstal) and have already made statements about the circumstances of their capture and their conduct of hostilities in Mariupol."
The fact of Baraniuk's capture was confirmed by Ukrainska Pravda's sources from among the Ukrainian defenders in Mariupol.
On 12 April, it was reported that several hundred marines in Mariupol were able to break through from the Illich Iron and Steel Works to the Azovstal plant, where the Azov Regiment was stationed. But, as it turned out, another part of the Marine brigade was taken prisoner.
