Kremlin calls date of May 9th for mobilisation and declaration of war nonsense

Dmitry Peskov, Press Secretary to the President of the Russian Federation has dismissed reports that mobilisation may be announced in Russia on May 9.

Details: Peskov added that such messages "should not be heeded."

When asked about the likelihood of a declaration of war on May 9, the spokesman said: "None." "We've already answered that question, it's nonsense."

Recall: Before starting a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, representatives of the Russian authorities repeatedly stated that the Russian Federation "is not going to attack anyone."

Background:

  • According to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia is preparing to announce an open mobilisation on 9 May.
  • At the same time, CNN, citing US and Western officials, reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin could officially declare war in Ukraine on May 9th, thereby replacing the official designation of "special military operation."
