Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu has warned that Russia is considering arms shipments from NATO countries to Ukraine a "legitimate target" for destruction.
On Wednesday, the minister was quoted by the Russian agency Interfax, writes Evropeyskaya Pravda.
Shoigu said that NATO vehicles with weapons and ammunition for the armed forces of Ukraine that have arrived on the territory of this country would be destroyed.
"The United States and its NATO allies continue to pump Ukraine with weapons. I note that any shipment from the North Atlantic Alliance that arrives in the country with weapons or material for the needs of the Ukrainian armed forces is considered a legitimate target for destruction," Shoigu said.
Russian officials have repeatedly threatened to strike at Western arms shipments to Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in particular, stated that all cargo brought into Ukraine carrying Western weapons would be the target of the occupiers.
Russia also sent an official diplomatic note to the United States warning that US and NATO deliveries of "the most sensitive" weapons systems to Ukraine "were adding fuel to the fire" of the conflict and could lead to "unpredictable consequences."
