Russian invaders have taken 267 orphans from Mariupol and Volnovakha to Rostov Oblast, Russia.
The children are being kept at the Romashka sports and recreation complex, which is located in the village of Zolotaya Kosa in the Neklinovsky district [near Taganrog], reported Petro Andriushchenko, adviser to the mayor of Mariupol.
According to Andriushchenko, the Russians have deported a total of 540 orphaned children from Donetsk Oblast.
The transported children are being prepared to become citizens of the Russian Federation under a simplified procedure which was recently signed into law by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
According to Andriushchenko, all children without parents from Mariupol will continue to be taken to the Romashka Camp in Rostov Oblast."The most disgusting thing is that this process is being supervised directly by the Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, who initiated the ‘simplification’ of the procedure for granting citizenship to orphaned children in Ukraine", said Andriushchenko.
Earlier, the occupying authorities started looking for and collecting children who had been orphaned or lost their parents, after which they were taken to an unknown destination.
The Office of the President [of Ukraine] said that since the beginning of the full-scale war, more than 232,000 children have been taken out [of Ukraine] to the Russian Federation, although it is impossible to say what the exact number is due to the fighting and temporary occupation.
