Russian troops have killed 243 children and injured 446 in Ukraine

Juvenile prosecutors have said that 243 children have been killed in Ukraine as a result of Russian armed aggression.

Details: More than 689 children have been affected in Ukraine as a result of the Russian Federation’s full-scale armed aggression. As of the morning of 31 May 2022, the official number of child fatalities was unchanged at 243, but the number of injured had risen to 446.

Children have suffered most in Donetsk Oblast (153), Kyiv Oblast (116), Kharkiv Oblast (111), Chernihiv Oblast (68), Luhansk Oblast (52), Kherson Oblast (52), Mykolaiv Oblast (47), Zaporizhzhia Oblast (29), Sumy Oblast (17), the city of Kyiv (16) and Zhytomyr Oblast (15).
There are 1,909 educational institutions damaged due to constant bombing and shelling of Ukrainian towns and villages by the armed forces of the Russian Federation. Of these, 180 have been completely destroyed.
Background: A 16-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl were injured on 30 May as a result of shelling by the invading forces in Kharkiv and the town of Korotych in the Kharkiv district of Kharkiv Oblast.
On 29 May, a 9-year-old girl was killed and a 7-month-old infant and a 5-year-old girl were injured due to Russian shelling of Myroliubivka in Kherson Oblast.
Odesa singer and composer Tamara Lukasheva dedicated a song to a three-month-old girl whose life was cut short by a Russian missile hitting a housing estate in Odesa.
