Zelenskyy reminds Kyiv residents that the war is not over

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on Kyiv residents to remember what it cost to protect the capital, emphasising that the war is not over yet.

Details: Zelenskyy noted that his return from eastern Ukraine to Kyiv left him "with a rather ambiguous impression."

He recalled the "Khreshchatyk [Kyiv’s main street] filled with people and their smiles" and the "relaxed demeanour of Kyiv residents" who walked freely around the city on Kyiv day.

Direct speech: "It is for the possibility of living such a normal, happy life, in which you can just walk quietly through the streets of your own city that this war is going on now. This is what we are fighting for for everyone in Ukraine – freedom and peace. What you could really feel today in Kyiv. Even despite the cry of the air-raid siren, which sounded on the day.

Therefore, I wish you, men of Kyiv and women of Kyiv, to protect the peace of life, protect your city and be sure to remember what the protection of the capital cost. Remember how many lives were given for the capital. I understand that it's already summer in your eyes. But I want you to have this understanding in your mind – we still have to fight, and the war is not over yet.
