The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine sees no signs as yet that Russia is making preparations for a second attack on Kyiv.
Source: Anna Maliar, Deputy Defence Minister, on a 24-hour news broadcast
Quote: "The panic among the people of Kyiv was indeed very serious. All (the previous) evening I had a lot of people calling me. I was in touch all night on this issue with the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (Valerii Zaluzhnyi - ed.) and the Head of the Chief Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov.
As of today, we have no information that would indicate a possible attack (on the capital - ed.) today."
Details: At the same time, Maliar stressed that it is essential to understand that the threat to Kyiv and the whole territory of Ukraine is constant.
Moreover, capturing the capital is the quickest and easiest way for the Russian occupying forces to establish control over the whole of Ukraine.
At the same time, the Russians can create and inflate waves of panic, as happened this time (rumours of a possible new attack by the occupiers at 4 am on 28 May spread quite quickly - ed.).
According to the Deputy Defence Minister, the analysis found that this information initially appeared on Russian social networks, and only then did "concerned Ukrainian citizens" make efforts to spread it.
Previously: On 11 May the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces expressed the opinion that Russia was planning to capture Kyiv, create a new state entity and incorporate it into the Russian Federation.
On 27 May, the Russian news website Meduza quoted two sources close to the Kremlin and one directly within the Russian presidential administration as saying that the Kremlin is once again discussing a possible attack on Kyiv and is still hoping for a full-scale victory in the war against Ukraine.
