The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has prevented the Russian Federation from circumventing the previously imposed sanctions on the repair of AN-type transport aircraft.

This has been reported by the SSU press service on Telegram.

The SSU established that the Russian Federation had registered a shell company that allegedly has no connection to Moscow in a Middle Eastern country.

"This would have allowed the occupiers to ‘legally’ maintain their heavy transport aircraft around the world. However, due to the SSU's proactive work, the relevant Ukrainian agencies have revoked the maintenance certificate for the aggressor country’s foreign ‘mediator’", the statement said.

The SSU emphasises that now Russia will not be able to repair its cargo planes manufactured under the licence of the Antonov State Enterprise in any country.

"This will significantly affect the occupiers’ logistics, as they have been using more than ten heavy An-124s to transport personnel and heavy armoured vehicles in the course of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

They are running out of time to fly, and it will be difficult for them to land", the Security Service added.
