The city of Lyman in the Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region is mostly controlled by Russian troops, and the Ukrainian military has taken new fortified positions on the Lyman front.

Details: Kyrylenko notes that the Ukrainian military remains in the Lyman direction, but in new fortified positions to hold off the enemy.

"The Russian military is really trying to gain a foothold in this direction, because they understand that the Ukrainian military on the new frontiers will not only deter the enemy, but also launch a counterattack to drive the enemy out of the Lyman community, " Kyrylenko reported.

He added that shelling continues along the entire front line in the Donetsk region.

Occupying forces are also launching missile and air strikes on cities relatively far from the front line. These are Bakhmut, Pokrovsk and Kramatorsk.

Kyrylenko also noted that the city of Bakhmut is of interest to Russians because they have a strategic goal to take over the Luhansk region.

After that, they want to transfer their group across to Lyman thanks to [gaining] control of the Bakhmut-Severodonetsk route in order to advance towards Donetsk. In the north of the region, the Russians’ main targets are Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, reported the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration.
