Quote from the Agency Head, Andriy Alekseev: "As a result of Russian aggression and military hostilities in the region, the road sector has suffered significant damage, specifically 45% (1,059 km of the roads) of the network of public roads of national importance."
Details: According to Alekseev, 16 artificial structures (artificial structures are bridges, overpasses, tunnels, overground and underground pedestrian crossings, etc. – ed.) have been destroyed on state roads, 12 of which are part of the Agency’s inventory.
He also added that some of the destroyed or damaged roads are in territories that remain occupied.
The regional highways team cannot yet predict how much time and resources it will take to rebuild everything.
According to Alekseev, efforts are currently focusing primarily on arranging temporary detours of the destroyed buildings and providing travel along priority routes where possible.
