As a result of shelling by Russian invaders, the main gas pipeline that transported gas to the settlements of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts was damaged. Gas supply to these regions has been stopped.
About these reports, Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine.
"On May 23, 2022, as a result of shelling, the main gas pipeline that transported gas to the settlements of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts was damaged. Since 14:00, the supply of natural gas to this section of the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine has been stopped.
Now the damaged section of the gas pipeline has been localised, but it is impossible to begin repair work or resumption of gas transportation while hostilities are ongoing. There are no alternative options for transporting gas to the regions due to unauthorised interference in the operation of the GTS in the territory occupied by Russian troops," the report says.
The company recalled that on May 11, 2022, OGTSU specialists recorded the overlap of cranes in the undefined KS Novopskov district on the main gas pipeline that transported gas to the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.
"Now, in order to protect themselves, consumers of Donetsk and Luhansk regions need to follow the recommendations of regional distribution network operators," the company added.
It is noted that employees of the OGTSU remain in the regions and are in constant contact with the military and representatives of military-civil administrations in order to start repairing the damaged gas transmission infrastructure at the very first opportunity.
