The Russian serviceman Vadim Shishimarin, accused of killing a civilian in the Sumy region, was condemned to life imprisonment.
Source: session of the Solomiansk district court of Kiev
Details: The court declared evidence against Shishimarin and concluded that the murder was premeditated.
The court rejected the defence’s arguments that the occupier had allegedly carried out the order because it was given by a serviceman who was not Shishimarin's commander and that the order was criminal.
The court does not deem the defendant's remorse sincere.
Shishimarin pleaded guilty to violating the laws and customs of war. This crime is international and therefore particularly serious.
Background:
- On 4 May, the Security Service of Ukraine shared a video of Shishimarin's confession to murdering civilians.
- On 11 May, the prosecutor's office announced that his case had been sent to the court.
- Shishimarin was accused of violating the laws and customs of war. He pleaded guilty and repented.
