The summer rains may lead to an epidemic in Russian-occupied Mariupol due to the haphazard way the dead were being buried there.

Details: Vadym Boichenko, Mayor of Mariupol, warned that poisonous substances might wash up in the sea, rivers and sources of drinking waters in the wake of heavy summer rains. He stressed that Mariupol residents who remain under Russian occupation must be safely evacuated.
Quote from Boichenko: "The humanitarian crisis created by the occupiers and their collaborators aside, the city is currently on the brink of an outbreak of infectious diseases. 100,000 Mariupol residents still have no running water. The sewage system does not work. There are haphazard burial sites all over the city.
When the summer rains that Mariupol experiences every year arrive this time around, all of this will wash up in rivers, the sea, and sources of drinking water. That’s why we need dependable green corridors to evacuate Mariupol residents. Together with our international partners, we must do everything we can to save the people of Mariupol."
