A special mobile police group has identified 13 victims of sexual abuse committed by the occupiers since it began working in Kyiv Oblast one month ago.
Source: Deputy Interior Minister Kateryna Pavlichenko, quoted by the press centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Details: It is stated that during this period:
- the group worked in 21 settlements;
- about 340 people were interviewed;
- 13 victims of sexual abuse were identified;
- a pre-trial investigation has been launched into two criminal cases of rape by Russian occupiers.
According to Pavlichenko, a similar group has been working in Sumy Oblast since 10 May. Law enforcement officers will extend their work to cover other liberated areas next.
It was emphasised that the specialists in the group have relevant experience in working with victims of violence, as well as working with children. The police and psychologists talk to local residents, provide information and explain where to go for help.
In general, the police work in two ways to document and investigate sexual abuse: they check all information online and process the settlements that were under occupation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs explained.
