Advisor to Mariupol Mayor: Evacuation from Mariupol begins

The evacuation of civilians from Mariupol today (2 May) has begun.

According to Andriushchenko: "According to our information, the [evacuation] buses have left Mariupol. According to the preliminary agreement the buses will take people to Manhush and Berdiansk.

People with their own means of transport can also join the convoy. We hope that thousands of Mariupol residents stuck on the way from Mariupol to Zaporizhzhia (the occupiers would not let them through) will be able to reach Zaporizhzhia tonight or tomorrow morning."

Details: Andriushchenko also confirmed that on the night of 1-2 May Russian troops resumed the shelling of the Azovstal plant.

The shelling subsided by morning. The Advisor to the Mayor believes that the shelling ended because of the evacuation.
