Zelenskyy official explains why martial law will be immediately extended for 3 months

The president's representative in the Constitutional Court, Fedir Venislavsky, explained that martial law will be extended immediately for three months, as a counteroffensive takes more time than defence. The Rada may also lift martial law at any time.

Venislavsky: "We have twice extended martial law since 24 February. We now understand that the enemy has focused on building fortifications in the areas he temporarily controls.
The transition to a counterattack is a much more difficult task than defence. Therefore, we must realise that we are highly unlikely to be able to liberate the entire territory of Ukraine within the next month."
Details: If Ukraine is liberated in less than three months, the Rada will simply abolish martial law.
According to him, there is also a legal component to such a decision. When the president imposes martial law and the parliament approves it, Ukraine must inform the UN about the restrictions on constitutional rights and freedoms imposed under martial law.
Reminder: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposes to extend martial law and the new time frame for general mobilisation until near the end of the summer.
