Luhansk Region: defenders drive invaders out from near Zolote and Sirotyne - head of Luhansk Oblast Military Administration

The Ukrainian military has repulsed a Russian attack near the towns of Hirske, Zolote and the village of Syrotyne in the Luhansk region, with the invaders being forced to retreat, and numerous Russian casualties.

Quote from Haidai: "Artillery shelling has damaged 9 houses in Hirske and 6 in Zolote. As a matter of fact, while storming Hirske [amalgamated territorial community (hromada) - ed.], the Russians were forced to retreat, as was the case in the Syrotyne district near Sievierodonetsk. The enemy's losses are numerous."
Details: In total, according to the head of the Oblast Military Administration, Ukrainian defenders repulsed 11 Russian attacks on the front during 16 May. They destroyed a Tor surface-to-air missile system, 5 tanks, 6 artillery systems (including 3 MLRSs), 12 armoured combat vehicles and 1 motor vehicle.
Air defence units shot down one Russian Su-25 aircraft and three Orlan-10 UAVs.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff reported that the Russian invaders had suffered losses and retreated on the Sievierodonetsk front, near the village of Syrotyne, while several more attacks were unsuccessful.
