About 150-170 thousand Mariupol residents remain hostages of the occupying forces in the city, where there are problems with drinking water, food and money.
Source: Adviser to the Mayor of Mariupol Petro Andriushchenko on Telegram
Andriushchenko's quote: "Water. All basements are flooded, streets are turned into rivers. Vodokanal [water supply service] workers have received diving equipment and are trying unsuccessfully to repair leaks in basements. There is still no access to drinking water."
Details: The mayor's adviser clarified that most Mariupol residents have to go a long way to water supply points (barrels or water carriers), but there is not enough water there either.
There is also a problem with food in the city.
Currently, there are more sellers from the surrounding villages and the growth of natural markets is increasing, but Mariupol residents have a problem with money.
According to Andriushchenko, there is a second point in Mariupol where hryvnias can be converted into cash, it is near the Metro, but the exchange rate [currency exchange from the Ukrainian hryvnia to the Russian rouble] is 1.8 there, while in Donetsk it is 2.2.
"Looters under the "roof" of the mayor Kostiantyn Ivashchenko are robbing Mariupol residents even here. Currently, 150-170 thousand Mariupol residents remain hostages of the occupying forces. There is almost no chance to escape to Ukraine," the mayor's adviser concluded.
