Quote from Volodymyr Zelenskyy: "Grateful to @POTUS [President of the United States, Joe Biden] and the people [of the USA] for supporting [Ukraine] in the fight for our freedom and future."

"Today's signing of the Lend-Lease Act is a historic step. I am convinced that together we will win once again. And we will defend democracy in Ukraine. And in Europe. Like 77 years ago."

Details: Oleksiy Reznikov recalled how the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Winston Churchill, persuaded the United States to provide arms to the European Allies through a Lend-Lease agreement back in 1941. And now, according to the Minister, history has repeated itself as President Zelenskyy has persuaded the United States to adopt a similar plan to fight the Russian regime.

Background:

On the evening of 9 May, while Russians were shooting fireworks in Moscow on Victory Day, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, signed into law a bill reviving a process previously used by the U.S. to support the Allies and the USSR during World War II (Lend-Lease Act) with humanitarian aid and arms worth millions of dollars.

The current US legislation passed in the House of Representatives on 28 April and in the Senate on 6 April.
