Number of children wounded in the wake of Russia’s military aggression rises to over 404

More than 623 children have fallen victim to Russian military aggression in Ukraine.

Details: According to prosecutors of crimes against juveniles, as of 1 May 2022 the number of children who were killed remains unchanged: 219; the number of children who suffered wounds has risen to 404.

These numbers are provisional; work is underway to confirm the exact number of casualties, including children in regions where active fighting continues or in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories.

The most children were affected in Donetsk Region (139), Kyiv Region (115), Kharkiv Region (95), Chernihiv Region (68), Kherson Region (44), Mykolaiv Region (43), Luhansk Region (37), Zaporizhia Region (27), Sumy Region (17), the city of Kyiv (16), and Zhytomyr Region (15).

Over the course of Russian shelling of Dobropillia, Drobysheve in Kramatorsk District, and Vremivka in Volnovakha District, Donetsk Region on 29-30 April 5 children were injured.

On 28 April, a 12-year-old girl was wounded in Russian artillery fire in the village of Liubymivka, Beryslav District, Kherson Region.

Daily bombings and shelling of Ukrainian towns and villages by the armed forces of the Russian Federation havedamaged 1,570 school, kindergartens, and other educational establishments, razing 111 of them to the ground.
