According to Haidai: "Only the Russians know which strategic facility they wanted to destroy in

the area, which contains only residential buildings. However, the enemy has hit this neighbourhood three times in the last week and all three times hit a house where ordinary residents of Sievierodonetsk live. Each time State Emergency Service officers extinguished the flames and rescued those who were still there, as these people have practically no home of their own anymore".

Details: According to Haidai, Sievierodonetsk, Rubizhne and Lysychansk have suffered the most destruction in the past 24 hours due to the Russian invasion.

Specifically, there were fires in six multi-storey buildings and a shop in Sievierodonetsk, five residential properties in Rubizhne, and two houses in Lysychansk.

Fighting is continuing in parts of the towns of Rubizhne and Popasna.

Haidai stressed that our armed forces are holding their positions. On 2 April, on the front line in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, they beat off six Russian attacks and destroyed four tanks, six armoured vehicles and seven vehicles belonging to the invading forces.

Later, the head of the Regional Military Administration said that the invaders had shelled the Ilinskyy Monastery in Varvarivka.

Fragments of shells shattered windows in two churches of the monastery. The wing where the monks reside, the garage and outbuildings were completely burnt out. Outbuildings in the grounds were also damaged. The monastery brethren and workers were not hurt.

Haidai said that earlier the Russians caused damage to other holy places in the Sievierodonetsk diocese. The Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in Sievierodonetsk has been shelled more than once. The Church of the Icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" (Sievierodonetsk) and parishes in Lysychansk, Troitsk and Rubizhne sustained damage.
