President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that agreements had been reached between the parties on the repair of Ukrainian military equipment in Bulgaria.
He stated this following a meeting with Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov in Kyiv, Evropeyska Pravda reports .
"Today, in a conversation with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, we initiated the establishment of cooperation for the repair of Ukrainian military equipment at facilities in Bulgaria. This is very important for Ukraine. I am convinced that this cooperation will also be beneficial for both Bulgarian companies and the Bulgarian economy. Quality and timeframes are very important to us, because we are fighting every day", Zelenskyy said.
In turn, Petkov said, "With regard to your request for military technical assistance, in particular for certain heavy military equipment to be repaired and rebuilt at Bulgarian enterprises, I think this will be a good opportunity for Ukraine and for Bulgaria. We will be pleased to provide such repair assistance for Ukraine."
The parties also had substantive discussions on cooperation in the energy sector with respect to the supply of electricity to Bulgaria by Ukraine.
"Ukraine is ready to supply electricity to Bulgaria. We are also interested in diversifying gas supplies in the region, particularly by utilising the possibilities of the trans-Balkan gas pipeline jointly with the Bulgarian side," the president said.
He also announced agreements on the transportation of agricultural produce from Ukraine through the Black Sea port of Varna.
Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov has reportedly launched a fundraising campaign for Ukraine and called on citizens to donate a month's salary, as he has done.
