Details: The Azovstal steelworks, where defenders of Mariupol are based and where civilians are hiding from the bombardment in the basements, was under fire all night long.
Last night alone there were 35 airstrikes, during which one of the workshops caught fire. But most important is the effect on the civilians, who are now under the rubble.
Members of the Azov Regiment report that they are providing first aid and rescuing civilians from under the rubble.

Background:
- Ukrainian intelligence previously reported that it had information that the Russian authorities were planning to deploy units of the Russian Guards and the Federal Security Service (FSB) to storm the positions of the Ukrainian defenders at Azovstal.
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says that the Ukrainian forces still lack the resources to conduct a military operation to break the siege of Mariupol.
- On 23 April, the Azov Regiment posted online the first part of a video from the basements of the Azovstal plant in besieged Mariupol, which showed children who are hiding from the Russian bombs.
- On 24 April, Azov released a new video from Azovstal’s dungeons. It showed women hiding with their children in a shelter, saying that they only had a few days’ food and water left.
