General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces commented on rumours of “mine clearance” on Crimean isthmus before the war

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has responded to rumours that Ukrainian command allegedly cleared mines at the passage near Chongar, on the administrative border with the occupied Crimea, prior to Russian invasion.

Quote: "As for the rumours about the alleged ‘mine clearance’ near Chongar, we report the following. The bridge was mined, but we were confronted by enemy forces that outnumbered us 15 to 1.."
"All conclusions regarding the legitimacy of decisions adopted during hostilities will be made in the manner prescribed by law after their termination."
Details: The General Staff has insisted that anyone conspiring with Russian aggressors will be put behind bars.
Background: The information that Russian troops successfully occupied Kherson region in the first days of the full-scale invasion because the Ukrainian authorities had cleared mines at the administrative border with Crimea was distributed across social networks.
In an interview with "Ukrainska Pravda," Kherson Mayor Ihor Kolykhaiev indirectly confirmed the fact that the isthmus was cleared of mines on the eve of the invasion.
