General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces commented on rumours of “mine clearance” on Crimean isthmus before the war

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has responded to rumours that Ukrainian command allegedly cleared mines at the passage near Chongar, on the administrative border with the occupied Crimea, prior to Russian invasion.

Background: The information that Russian troops successfully occupied Kherson region in the first days of the full-scale invasion because the Ukrainian authorities had cleared mines at the administrative border with Crimea was distributed across social networks.

In an interview with "Ukrainska Pravda," Kherson Mayor Ihor Kolykhaiev indirectly confirmed the fact that the isthmus was cleared of mines on the eve of the invasion.
