Self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, who allows Russian missiles to be launched on Ukraine from his territory, has called on neighbouring countries to "be friendly".

Quote: "Here in this cosy church, my favourite church, I would like to appeal not only to Belarusians, but first of all to our neighbours. Let's take care of the peace. It is so important now...
Let's live together in friendship. I would like to appeal to my fellow politicians: let's not create problems for our people, there are enough of them as it is. Just look at what is happening to our neighbours Lithuania and Latvia, and the Poles.
I’m not even mentioning Ukraine in this regard. They were such happy, cheerful people. They lived in a prosperous world, they had it all. Where are they today? They’re lining up at the border and asking us to let them into Belarus, if only to buy buckwheat. Never mind buckwheat – there’s a shortage of salt, they are asking us for salt."
For reference: Lukashenko has been involved in the war from the get-go. Russian troops and tanks have been advancing from Belarus, and rockets are launched from there every night.
Lukashenko also repeatedly called on Zelenskyy to surrender and said he wanted to take part in "negotiations" between Ukraine and Russia.
A reminder: Belarusians are being offered a monthly salary of $1,000-1,500 and subsidised training at Russian universities in exchange for taking part in the war, according to intelligence reports.
