According to Zelenskyy: "We have a moral right to lift the siege of our cities by military means.
And we have high hopes that we will be able to do that.
Are we ready now? No. Don’t trust other sources: we are not yet ready to lift the siege militarily.
And, by the way, the guys who continue [defending] this part of Mariupol, Azovstal, who are there, who are under assault, these leaders, these commanders themselves understand this very well.
That’s the reality."
Details: President Zelenskyy added that he had a telephone conversation with the soldiers of the Azov Regiment who are defending Mariupol before the press conference.
He said that Saturday, 23 April was one of the most difficult days in Mariupol’s defence since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale military invasion. The President said that throughout the day, Russian troops fired from sea and from land, from tanks, aircraft, and artillery.
