According to Maliar: "How long the war goes on for will depend on the intensity and quality of military aid. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are doing everything they can to ensure the war ends as soon as possible.

Right now, what our defenders need most are air and missile defence systems, rockets, and anti-tank equipment."

Details: The Deputy Defence Minister added that Ukraine continues to negotiate the supply of the necessary weapons and defence equipment.

The exact inventory of the type of weapons and equipment needed is strictly confidential and is shared by the representatives of Ukraine exclusively with the governments of Ukraine’s Western partners.

Background:

  • The third round of US military aid for Ukraine includes 72 155mm howitzers and more than 121 UAVs developed specifically for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The second round included over 200 armoured personnel carriers, 11 helicopters, 18 howitzers and 300 combat drones, among other equipment and weapons.
  • Victoria Nuland, the US Deputy Secretary of State, said that the United States has begun supplying multiple rocket launchers to Ukraine.
  • On 22 April, President Emmanuel Macron of France announced that France would provide Ukraine with Caesar self-propelled artillery systems and anti-tank missiles. Germany continues to refrain from providing heavy weapons to Ukraine.
  • Sources in the Kremlin claim that the Russian leadership does not know how to end the war in Ukraine in a way that will not damage Putin’s ratings.
  • On 22 April, the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that Russia’s bombing of Ukrainian cities might continue until the end of 2023.
