According to the General Staff: "The enemy is trying to continue offensive operations in the Eastern Operational Zone in order to establish full control over the territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
The enemy continues to launch missile and bomb strikes on military and civilian infrastructure throughout Ukraine."
Details: There was no action by Russian troops on the Volyn, Polissia and Siverskyi fronts; no changes have been observed in the state or position of groups of Russian troops.
On the Slobozhanskyi front, Russian troops continued to improve their technical support infrastructure.
In Balakliia, wounded Russian soldiers were taken to the municipal polyclinic, despite the fact that a hospital for the Russian military had been set up in the building of the local music school.
This testifies to a significant increase in the number of wounded among the occupying forces, and difficulties with organising their further medical evacuation.
Russian troops continue to partially blockade and shell the city of Kharkiv.
On the Donetsk and Tavriia fronts, Russian troops continue to carry out artillery shelling along the entire frontline.
Russian occupying forces are planning a forced mobilisation of the local population in the war against Ukraine. The occupiers’ other goal is to halt all humanitarian aid supplied by the Ukrainian government. Local residents are being held in constant fear.
For example, representatives of the Russian occupation forces held a meeting with the residents of the village of Zolota Balka in the Kherson region, where they announced that there would be no more "green corridors" and banned people from leaving the village.
They also warned that if the Armed Forces of Ukraine open fire on their positions, Russian troops will start shelling the village. The occupiers continue to carry out searches of locals’ homes.
On the Pivdennyi Bug front, Russian troops are shelling the positions of Ukrainian troops.
The Ukrainian Air Force shot down 4 air targets on 20 April: 3 unmanned aerial vehicles and 1 cruise missile.
9 Russian attacks were repulsed in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions over the past 24 hours; 1 tank, 10 units of armoured and 2 of automotive equipment, 1 artillery system, 2 special engineering units, an anti-aircraft missile system and a Russian ammunition depot were destroyed.
