The Armed Forces of Ukraine corrected the Pentagon’s statement about aircraft provided to Ukraine
EVROPEYSKA PRAVDA - Wednesday, 20 April 2022, 11:38
The Ukrainian Air Force has confirmed that it received spare parts and components for aircraft, but no new aircraft.
According to Evropeyska Pravda, this was announced by the press service of the command of the Ukrainian Air Force.
The press service clarified that "Ukraine has not received new aircraft from its partners! With the assistance of the United States Government, the Ukrainian Air Force has received spare parts and components for the restoration and repair of the Air Force’s stock of combat aircraft, which will make it possible to put more planes into operation."
It should be recalled that, on 19 April, the Pentagon announced that Ukraine had received assistance from other countries, which made it possible to increase the number of combat aircraft of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Pentagon Press Secretary John F. Kirby stated, "I would just say without getting into what other nations are providing that they [the Ukrainians] have received additional platforms and parts to be able to increase their fleet size – their aircraft fleet size, I think I’d leave it at that."
Replying to a journalist’s question, the Press Secretary clarified that, in this case, "platform" meant "an airplane", but did not provide details about this delivery. "They [the Ukrainians] have received additional aircraft and aircraft parts to help them … get more aircraft in the air."
These words gave grounds to believe that he was talking about the delivery of aircraft.
