2 die in Kharkiv fire, 18 injured

On 16 April, Russian shelling caused 11 fires in the Kharkiv region. 2 people died and 18 were injured in one of the fires.

Details: On 16 April, rescue workers of the Kharkiv garrison of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine responded to 31 incidents, including the extinguishing of 11 fires caused by Russian shelling.

One of the largest fires occurred on the premises of an enterprise located in the Inudstrialnyi neighbourhood of Kharkiv. The fire encompassed an area of roughly 6,000 square metres. Wooden pallets and plastic containers were ablaze. It took 12 fire departments of the State Emergency Service to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters managed to save a significant part of the company’s products, and prevented the spread of the flames to nearby facilities.

Another fire burned in an office building in the Osnovyanskyi district of Kharkiv. The area of ​​the fire was about 1,500 square metres; the building itself, as well as 9 cars near it, caught on fire.

According to preliminary data, 2 people died and 18 others were injured.

10 units of fire and rescue equipment and about 50 rescuers worked at the scene of the fire.

On 16 April, pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service also attended to nearly 50 sites where unexploded ordnance and other explosive devices were found.
