A delegation of Georgian MPs headed by the Speaker Shalva Papuashvili arrives in Kyiv.
According to Evropeyska Pravda, this was reported on Papuashvili’s Twitter account.
"Arrived in #Kyiv together with fellow Georgian MPs to convey a message from Georgia: we feel your sorrow, #Georgia supports #Ukraine, Georgians stand with Ukrainians," – he said.
The delegation left Georgia on 15 April.
Papuashvili was accompanied by Deputy Speakers David Sergeenko, Archil Talakvadze and Levan Ioseliani, Head of the Diaspora Committee Beka Odisharia, and representatives of political parties Lelo, Girchi, the Republican Party, and For Georgia.
The biggest opposition force, the United National Movement, is not represented in the parliamentary delegation due to the conflict between the UNM and the majority Georgian Dream. It did however send its own delegation.
Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the relationship between Ukraine and Georgia deteriorated because of the latter’s reluctance to condemn Russia’s actions.
Lately, the relationship has also been affected by the possible transit of supplies for the Russian army through the territory of Georgia.
