Boris Johnson and members of his government banned from travelling to Russia

Russia has banned UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and several members of his government from entering its territory.

Quote from the Russian Ministry: "This step has been taken in response to London's unbridled information and political campaign aimed at isolating Russia internationally, creating conditions for containing our country and strangling the domestic economy."

Details: The list of those banned from entering Russia includes Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Justice Secretary Dominic Raab, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps, Home Secretary Priti Patel, and Chancellor Rishi Sunak.

Also on the list are Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng, Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries, Armed Forces Minister James Heappey, First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon, Attorney General for England and Wales Suella Braverman, and Conservative MP and former Prime Minister Theresa May.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed that the British leadership is "deliberately aggravating the situation around Ukraine, pumping the Kyiv regime with lethal weapons and coordinating similar efforts on the part of NATO."

The ministry also noted that London "is strongly pushing not only its Western allies, but also other countries to impose large-scale anti-Russian sanctions". 

The ministry said that the "list" of British politicians banned from entering Russia "will be expanded in the near future".
