President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine has in fact already filled out an official application form for joining the European Union.

Quote: "We also talked to government officials today about filling in the questionnaire that Ukraine received from President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
This is a necessary stage in the preparation of our country to become a candidate for EU membership. The work is almost complete, and we will soon provide the answers to the representatives of the European Union."
Background:
On April 8, in Kyiv, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen officially presented Zelenskyy with the questionnaire, the completion of which is a necessary step towards acquiring EU candidate country status. She also said that she was convinced that Ukraine would win the war and that the EU was ready to shelter and help Ukrainian citizens.
Zelenskyy expressed hope that the Ukrainian government would provide answers to the official questionnaire for EU candidate country status within a week.
