According to Zelenskyy: "95% of all buildings - 95% - destroyed in Mariupol! This is one of the largest cities not only in Ukraine but also in Europe. 500,000 inhabitants. 500,000 people!

No-one knows how many of them were killed. Nobody knows how many people are left alive."

Details: The President gave a reminder that "tens, hundreds of thousands of people" have already been evacuated from Mariupol, but Ukrainians also understand that "tens of thousands of people may have died in Mariupol."

He also added that Ukraine knows nothing about the fate of people who went to the occupied territories and then were deported to Russia.

According to Zelenskyy, there are tens of thousands of these people - their documents had been changed, some were given Russian passports, taken to the Russian hinterland, some taken to camps, some to other places.

Background:

On 12 April, the Mariupol City Council announced that 40% of high-rise buildings or about 2 million square metres of housing have been completely destroyed in the city as a result of the war waged by the Russian Federation.

The Azov Regiment believes that it is possible to break the siege of Mariupol and is waiting for appropriate decisive actions from the country’s military and political leadership.
