Details: Civilian contact with the substance was minimal, as the epicentre was at a certain distance from civilian areas. Servicemen were somewhat closer.
In a video released by the Azov Regiment, the victims describe seeing something resembling smoke or fog.
The main symptoms of the victims are facial flushing, high blood pressure, dryness and a burning sensation in the nasopharynx and mucous membranes of the eyes, tachycardia, tinnitus, shortness of breath, and dizziness.
The victims received treatment for the symptoms. It is impossible to determine what substance was used by the Russian occupiers or to conduct a toxicological analysis, since the defenders of Mariupol and the inhabitants of the city are under complete blockade of the Russian occupiers.
The "Azov" Regiment also notes that it is not possible to fully inspect the epicentre of the event, as the Russians are constantly shelling the area.
An elderly woman has suffered the worst effects among the civilians affected.
"We know now that the enemy used poisonous substances or potent toxic substances, mainly with a suffocating effect," commented a medical worker. The main task currently is to monitor the condition of the servicemen for consequences of the poisoning.
