Infrastructure damage from the war exceeds $80 billion
Direct losses to Ukraine's economy due to the war started by Russia rose by 12.2 billion USD last week and on 11 April crossed the mark of 80.4 billion USD (2.4 trillion UAH).
This was stated in an updated assessment of Ukrainian economic losses issued by the KSE Institute project "Russia will pay."
The total losses of the Ukrainian economy due to the war range from 564 billion USD to 600 billion USD. This assessment also includes indirect losses as well as infrastructure losses. For example, declining GDP, termination of investments, outflow from the workforce, additional spending on defence and social support, and so on.
At least 23,000 kilometres of road and 37,000 square metres of housing stock in Ukraine have been damaged, destroyed, or captured during 47 days of Russian aggression in Ukraine. At least 277 bridges and bridge crossings, 10 military airfields, 8 airports, and 2 seaports were affected.
Last week, losses in residential property increased the most due to increased destruction, the updating of preliminary data, and methodological adjustments. The second greatest reason for this growth is the loss of the assets of enterprises.
Metallurgy, coke-chemical production, and oil refining enterprises suffered the greatest losses among industries. According to project analysts, the total amount of direct documented industry losses reached 6.25 billion USD.
