Details: Ukrainian Minister pointed out that the Bucha tragedy was preceded by many years of Russian propaganda, which incites hatred and dehumanises Ukrainians.
According to Kuleba: "Bucha did not happen in one day. Over the course of many years Russian political elite and propaganda has incited hatred, dehumanised Ukrainians, nurtured a sense of Russian superiority, and laid the groundwork for these atrocities. I am calling on researchers from around the world to investigate what led to the Bucha tragedy."
Background:
- On 1 April it was announced that Bucha was liberated from the Russian occupying forces.
- On 2 April Anatoliy Fedoruk, the Mayor of Bucha, reported that almost 300 Bucha residents were found buried in mass graves and that dozens of dead bodies were found on the streets of Bucha, some of them with their hands tied.
- The exhumation of bodies from one of the mass graves began on 8 April.
- Many of the occupying soldiers who committed crimes against the civilian residents of towns and villages in the Kyiv region have already been identified. The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine promises to find every Russian soldier who had been caught on camera at least once.
