Russia's Ministry of Defence has acknowledged that Russian conscripts are fighting on the territory of Ukraine.

Quote: "Unfortunately, several instances of the presence of servicemen in units of the Russian armed forces participating in carrying out military operation on the territory of Ukraine have come to light".
Details: The Russian Ministry of Defence is manipulating information to make it seem as if "almost all such servicemen have already been withdrawn back to Russia".
The Russians also report that a unit of the Russian Federation that performs logistics tasks was attacked.
Quote: "A number of servicemen, including conscripts, were captured. Exhaustive measures are currently being taken to prevent conscripts from being sent to combat areas and to release captured servicemen."
Background: On 7 March, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed Russian women and promised them that he would not involve Russian conscripts and reservists in hostilities in Ukraine. Previously, he had also promised not to carry out military manoeuvres, after which he started a war.
