Ukraine’s Ministry of Education wants to cancel the State Final Attestation, the National Independent Test, the Unified Entrance Examination and the Unified Professional Entrance Examination in 2022.

This was announced by Minister of Education of Ukraine Serhiy Shkarlet.

Quote: "Having joined forces with the Committee on Education, Science and Innovation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, educational and parent communities have come up with a proposal to change the algorithms for state final exams for 11th grade students in Ukraine in 2022."

The Ministry of Education plans to exempt students from exams due to martial law and the Russian invasion.

At the same time, the ministry has not yet announced an alternative criterion for admission to universities.

Quote: "This is a difficult decision, but it is necessary! Our main task is to reduce any stress for children. They are going through a difficult period today, and we must make every effort to alleviate [the stress during] this period."

He also noted that the cancellation of external evaluation is necessary today to preserve the students’ and the nation’s intellectual potential and stimulate learning in Ukraine, even in wartime.

However, the final decision on this year's exams must be made by the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament - ed.) of Ukraine.
