Macron criticises Putin for “moral and political cynicism”
"EUROPEAN PRAVDA" — MONDAY, 7 MARCH 2022, 15:28
French President Emmanuel Macron has harshly criticised Russian President Vladimir Putin over Russia's position on "green corridors" for Ukrainian civilians fleeing from the war zone.
According to European Pravda, Le Figaro reports.
In particular, Macron was outraged by the fact that Russia is providing "green corridors" for Ukrainians, but not to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian army. The day before, he spoke with Putin particularly about the possibility for the civilian population to move out of the danger zone.
The French President called the Russian offer to provide protection to the civilian population in order to deport these people to the territory of Russia hypocritical.
"It's not serious, it's moral and political cynicism, and I consider it to be unacceptable," Emmanuel Macron said.
In the morning on 7 March, the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation declared an opening of "humanitarian corridors" from Ukraine to Belarus and Russia.
The Ukrainian side described this proposal as unacceptable.
The Elysee Palace said that Emmanuel Macron has asked for humanitarian corridors, but not to Russia and Belarus.
