Quote: "There are constant cyber attacks from abroad being carried out on Russian websites. We are preparing for various scenarios to ensure the availability of Russian resources. There are no plans to shut down the Internet within Russia."
Details: The ministry’s press service reported that the Ministry of Digital Development, Telecommunications and Mass Media of Russia has sent a letter to government agencies, outlining a set of recommendations for "cyber hygiene".
According to the ministry, these recommendations are being created to help better organise efforts to protect resources from harmful traffic, maintain the work of all the services and control domain names.
Background: Instructions from the Russian government to provide complete information on government web resources and websites have appeared online. Some experts have suggested that this may be a sign of preparations for the introduction of an "internal" closed Internet space for ordinary Russians.
Cyber expert Sarkis Darbinyan believes that the Russian economy is so tied to the global network that shutting it down would be a much stronger blow than numerous sanctions.
