Ukrainian para-athletes win their 4th gold in Beijing

Ukraine has won another gold medal at the Beijing Paralympics 2022 and holds second place in the overall medal count.

Details: 30-year-old Ukrainian athlete Oksana Shyshkova (performing in a class for the visually impaired) has become a two-time champion of the 2022 Paralympic Games.

Earlier, the para-athlete from Kharkiv won her first "gold" in the biathlon in the sprint distance, and she has now added to that another "gold" in cross-country skiing. Shishkova covered the 15-kilometre distance in 51:09 minutes, ahead of the nearest rival by almost a minute.

Another Ukrainian para-athlete, Natalia Tkachenko, finished fifth (a total of six para-athletes started the race, five reached the finish line).

For Shishkova, this is the twelfth medal in her career at the Paralympics and the fourth "gold".

In addition to the Ukrainian, there were two Germans on the podium: Lynn Kazmar and Leoni Maria Voltaire.

Within the first three days of the Paralympics, Ukraine has won 8 medals: 4 golds, 3 silvers, and 1 bronze. This result puts Ukraine in second place in the medal count. The Chinese team continues to lead, at three "golds" ahead of the nearest rival.
