On the morning of March 7, the Russian ruble fell by more than 10% at international auctions, to 138 rubles per US Dollar.

This was reported by The Bell.

It happened after the news that the United States is seriously considering an embargo on oil imports from Russia. In the same news story, Brent quotes exceeded USD 130 per barrel.

The US administration is seriously considering options for an embargo, as well as studying the impact of this measure on the domestic market. The scale and timing of the ban on Russian oil has not been determined yet, but it is possible that the United States will take this step on its own, acting without Europe, which is more dependent on Russian oil.
