Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk criticized the government of Georgia due to its intention to conduct trade with the Russian Federation, despite international sanctions against Moscow.

Quote: "How come, genatsvale [Georgian: dear/respected], that today, in the heat of Russia’s war against Ukraine, a brotherly nation to you, you have decided to conduct trade with the country that has attacked both you and us? The decision of Russia to ease the sanctions pressed on Georgia– is that in return for Tbilisi’s unwillingness to give its full support to Ukraine, by any chance?

"Can you not see the people of Georgia, rallying on the squares of Georgian cities in support of Ukraine, and not of your shady deals?"

Details: Stefanchuk expressed a conviction that Georgia is not only the government of itself– it is first and foremost the government of its people, who "will never allow itself to stay silent, when its brothers are in distress."
