One person killed in missile attack on Vinnytsia airport

Rescuers have pulled four people from the rubble after missile attacks on the airport in Havryshivka near Vinnytsia in which one person died.

Details: On March 6, at about 1:35 p.m., a fire broke out in a fuel and lubricants warehouse at the airport due to missile strikes by the Russian occupants. In addition, the administrative building was destroyed.

More than a hundred rescuers and two dozen units of equipment are involved in the mitigation of the consequences of missile fire. As of 2:35 p.m., four people have been pulled from the rubble. One of these has died.

At 3:34 p.m. the fire in the warehouse was extinguished, and the work continues to clear the rubble of the administrative building.

Background:

  • About 8 missiles were fired by the Russian occupiers at a military facility and the Havryshivka airport on March 6.
  • President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted immediately, saying that the Russian occupiers continue to destroy peaceful Ukrainian cities that do not threaten Russian troops. He called on NATO members to urgently "close the sky" over Ukraine or provide their own fighter aircraft for Ukrainian defenders to resist.
