The Russian army has used local residents in the village of Trostyanets in the Sumy region as a "human shield" to protect an S-300 anti-aircraft missile system.
Source: Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration Dmytro Zhyvytskyy on Telegram
According to Zhyvytskyy: "In one of the villages of the Trostyanets community, which was occupied by Russian troops today, the Russian army used villagers to create a "human shield". According to our information, this is to protect the S-300 [anti-aircraft missile] system."
Details: In addition, there are Russian tanks on the main street of the village and in the surrounding area, in almost every yard.
Background: The S-300 anti-aircraft missile system has a medium range.
Depending on the specific type of installation and its interceptor missiles, the maximum range can reach 150, 200, or 300km.
It is intended for direct cover of armies which are close to the enemy: primarily against ballistic missiles and planes, as well as various other targets.
Reminder: Russian troops’ attacks in the Sumy region have killed and wounded both service personnel and civilians.
