Over UAH 10 billion collected in army and humanitarian aid - Ukrainian National Bank

As of 5 March, the special account opened to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces had received the equivalent of almost almost UAH 10 billion.

This was announced by the press service of the Ukrainian National Bank.

The report states that "funds came both from Ukraine’s businesses and individuals, as well as from the international community (including the United States, Britain, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Finland, the Czech Republic, China, France, Canada and many other countries)".

In particular, more than UAH 2.8 billion were transferred from abroad in foreign currency (US dollars, euros, pounds, Canadian dollars, Chinese renminbi, Japanese yen, Swiss francs, Polish zlotys, and Australian dollars).

"Out of these funds, the National Bank has already transferred over UAH 5.7 billion to the needs of the military, in particular: UAH 450 million for the needs of the National Guard of Ukraine ( 26 February 2022); UAH 850 million for the needs of the Ukrainian National Police (150 UAH million on 28 February 2002; UAH 700 million on 3 March 2022); UAH 3,944.6 million for the needs of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence (UAH 182.3 million on 28 February  2022; UAH 675 million on 1 March 2022; UAH 168 million on 1 March 2022; UAH 1,999.3 million on 2 March 2022 , UAH 920 million on 4 March 2022); UAH 420 million for the needs of the State Border Guard Service (3 March 2022).

The balance in the special account currently stands at UAH 4.3 billion" the Ukrainian National Bank reported.

The Ukrainian National Bank adds that as of 5 March, an equivalent of more than UAH 46.4 million had been transferred to the account of the Ministry of Social Policy, which the National Bank had opened for humanitarian purposes.

"Currently, the balance of funds in the account of the Ministry of Social Policy stands at UAH 46.4 million. The account was opened by the National Bank for humanitarian aid from Ukraine and from abroad. The Ukrainian Ministry of Social Policy is the recipient and the administrator of the funds available on this account." the regulators added.
